World Flyers Meet General Pershing

Daily Report

by Lt. L. P. Arnold, "Chicago", Mechanic

All gathered at the Chief's [of Air Service, General Mason Patrick] office at 9:45 and at once went to General Pershing's office -- he said some very nice things to us and a compliment from so great & real a man means much to us. Then we met the Adjutant General & several others -- by this time we had quite a procession, for as we passed down the corridors from each office poured out a crowd of girls & fellows & joined the procession. Then went back to the Chief's office where we met most of the people there in informal gatherings.

In the afternoon some went to Walter Reed [hospital] to visit injured flyers there, while the rest of us went to the field where we had work to do.

The evening was free & was spent at private dinners, clubs, theaters, etc.

Daily Report

by Lt. L. H. Smith, Commanding

Today the personnel were received by General Pershing in the morning and in the afternoon a visit to Walter Reed Hospital was made, calling on all the injured flying officers and many of the injured enlisted men of the Air Service.
